Lexus ES330 & Camry V6 Front Struts And Stabilizer Bar links
This video will show you how I replaced the front struts and stabilizer bar links on a 2004 Lexus ES330 with 160,000 miles. The suspension ride was feeling mushy and getting noisy when driving over rough roads. I highly recommend you replace the stabilizer bar links when replacing struts since they wear out out the same rate as the struts. I used the FCS strut brand as the replacement and have been using them for the last few years with zero problems with no noticeable decline in performance. FCS also comes with a lifetime warranty. I'd say FCS is comparable in quality with Gabriel and Monroe.
My electric tools are all Milwaukee 1/2 and 3/8" and use them extensively to make quick work of all repairs. From 12mm on up, I mostly use my 1/2" impact sockets and 12mm on down 3/8" impact sockets.

    I have a 98 Lexus es 300 … while changing the idler and tensioner pulleys. I turned the crank shaft to acquire top dead center and after turning it a couple of times I saw that the belt was slipping on the crank shaft gear and I don’t know how many teeth it slipped (5-6).. I set crank shaft alignment but cam gears don’t line up … so I went another revolution to see if they would line up then but they didn’t …I don’t know what to do ? Do I set top dead center with crank shaft and then move forward the cam shaft pulleys to top dead center so they all match up ???? I am 70 years old and I’m confused as to what I should do now. Please help me…

      Rotate the crankshaft pulley to the TDC mark. Check and see if the camshaft TDC marks are close to alignment with the backing plate TDC v notch. If the camshaft TDC mark is approximately 180 degrees off, rotate the crankshaft one full rotation or 360 degrees. That will get your cams where they should be (but won't because of belt slippage / jump). Now remove the belt as shown in the video and reposition the camshafts. Follow the rest of the procedure as shown in the video.

    Never had an issue with either of My earth dreams Hondas current car is a 2019 CRV 1.5 t and its done over 150,000 miles, the Honda Tech at my dealership stated to me last year that carbon build up on these engines is extremely rare as Honda mitigated this as a proportion of the intake valves do get a spray through overlap and the valves are designed to rotate to give an even clean, they did offer a cleaning option if I wanted which I believe was crushed walnuts ? but I declined as it was pretty pricey, car never misses a beat , pretty impressive IMO. Car always runs on Premium fuel and gets a drop of injector cleaner in the tank every 3000 miles.

    • @hardlymovingpro
      @hardlymovingpro 7 днів тому

      Thanks for sharing your ownership experience. Good for you that you haven't experienced any carbonized intake valve problems with over 150,000 miles. When problems do happen, the amount of carbon buildup inside the intake ports and on the valves is not to be believed! Toyota addressed this intake valve carbon accumulation problem by having 2 injectors per cylinder; both port and direct injectors. What their engineers discovered was in certain driving conditions, port injection was more efficient that direct as well as having both working simultaneously. A short time later, Hyundai began providing dual injectors on their high end 2.5L engines. Using premium vs regular fuel along with injector cleaner has no effect on keeping intake valves clean since fuel never touches the intake valves.

      I had a customer quoted $2,400 to replace everything when the repair shop couldn't find the leak source. It turned out to be one of service port Schrader valve (less than a $1.00 part?). Using a quick connect to test for vacuum leakage or pressure leakage would have never found the source since the quick connect depresses the Schrader valve. When the quick connect is removed, the o ring in the valve is suppose to maintain a seal. Defective o ring, no seal. I replaced the valve, evacuated and recharged. Refrigerate leakage problem resolved.

    Can you reuse the old connecting rods?

    • @hardlymovingpro
      @hardlymovingpro 7 днів тому

      If no spun or worn out rod bearings. When those bearings go bad, a lot of stress is on those rods as they reciprocate on the crankshaft causing huge amounts of stress. This may cause the rod(s) to slightly bend. Also the rod's bearing holder can get worn out / damaged.

      Can only give you labor time which is between 5 - 6 hours with an experienced mechanic.

    My kids dad took my car other night and wrecked it. He said he hit a cement median and the car was pushed up a good 5ft into the air on the driver side and came back down hard but still managed to some how drive it to a parking lot where my tow truck recovered it from. He said a car came into his lane and almost head on collision and he avoided it by turning into the median. Obviously this didn't make me very happy and I was furious w him. Luckily I thought, he's a mechanic owns his own auto repair shop, and fixes everyone else's cars for a living, so this shouldnt be a hard thing for him to fix. My brand new tires on drivers side front and back where completely mangled to the rim barley even hanging on. My drivers side door would only open half way and after he's worked on it for a day I can now see the drivers side fender is replaced, good start...but i also see that the frame around that fender on the top is buckled and bent upwards in a small section of about 1 inch. Needs to be pulled out but think that'll be solved with a winch and my oat tree out front. My issue right now is, he bailed out on finishing the job of fixing my car he wrecked. I only have liability he doesnt have insurance and itd be a tough one to do unless i report my car stolen, which ok ya im pissed but hes my kids dad and i really dont want to have to do that. I have a little experience in mechanics but I just am not feeling confident in putting this new used from a u pull it lower a arm he has sitting here. I've got my 9yr old son I have to drive to school every morning and I need to know for fact my car is safe to drive, I can't risk messing it up. Is there anywhere anyone who can help me and not charge me full price since I already have the parts and just need help installing it? Is this something a mechanic shop might do for me?

      Suggest you shop for a mobile mechanic on craigslist.

    I have a 13 Avalon and could not find a video that showed how to remove it. Even though my cowling is slightly different I obtain more info from your video than any other video I've seen so far. Straight to the point with great angles that show exactly what you did and how you did it. Bravo and thanks. You have a new subscriber.

    I looked everywhere for a video like this...I have a vacuum pump from doing my AC a while back and kept thinking this would probably work great for changing brake fluid/bleeding brakes. I'm so happy I found this! Thanks!
